The infected in the last of us part 2 are partly extremely disgusting. After all, the fungus pandemic in the second part of the series already rages for a while, whereby various mutations have formed. One of them is the so-called "Shambler".
This is the shambler: The shamblers are probably the toughest "normal" opponents in the game. Alone with their size and strength they are already a great danger, and there is also the ability to endure a poisonous gas. So it does not offer to go to melee.
So the shambler should look originally
Thanks to Matthew Gallant von Naughty Dog, we now know how the shamblers looked in their first version. The Lead System Designer has released a short clip from the pre alpha version of The Last of US 2, where the highly infected one has a completely different look.
Particularly striking are the protruding red butt of the monsters exploding when a shambler goes to the ground.
On Reddit the clip was shared:

As with all aspects of the game, the infected in The Last of Us 2 with great attention to detail were designed. This also applies to the background history of the Shambler. These monstrosities are related to the "Bloater" from the first part, but were exposed to water and moisture for a long time. That's why we find you in areas such as Seattle and Santa Barbara, which have a high humidity.

What is actually with the last of us 3?
Of course, we want to know how the infected to the Last of US 2 evolve. But if it is at all, is not fixed yet. Although according to Neil Printant at Naughty Dog is a first version of the story in the drawer, but the developers want to give the ideas a lot of space to develop. In fact, it may take years until a third part is announced.
How do you find the alternative shambler?
