Overseas media IGN has published an interview with the developer on the open world of Diablo IV on YouTube.
This work, which is being developed for the release in 2023, is set in an open world consisting of several huge areas. In this interview, Joe Shell, the game director of this work, and Rod Ferguson, General Manager Diablo, talk about the difficulty of this attempt.
When you hear the open world, the player thinks The Legend of Zelda's Breath of the Wild is listed, and specifically, it is organic that can go anywhere and can do anything. On the other hand, this work explains that it is a non-linear but has a story, the beginning and end are fixed, and you can freely choose the order in between.
Ferguson also mentions the contradictions in the open world, saying, The player wants an open world and free choice, but also wants to go where to go. On the other hand, in this work, the way to go to the story is indicated, but exploration and events on the open world are always possible, so you can go to the place you want and have a wonderful mix of stories. It is said that it is answered.
Diablo IV will be released in 2023 for PS5/PS4/Xbox Series X | S/Xbox One/Windows.
